I’m putting the blog back together

To be clear I was always a lousy blogger. While I do like to write, I lack the conviction to put it into a long form written piece when — let’s face it– a cheeky tweetstorm or snappy comeback on Facebook is so much easier and has a much more extended reach.

But then the unholy alliance of Trump and Musk began to fester and percolate, and emboldened racists, bigots, homophobes, misogynists, knuckle draggers, and MAGAts began to usurp the newly unfettered digital commons, as the tech bro oligarchs genuflected before the new orange emperor.

After a particularly ugly racist post that elicited the ire of some anonymous Vancouver-based racist who suggested I was (paraphrasing) ethnically a monkey and the only good monkey was a dead monkey accompanied by a video of a black man being shot to death, and threatened one of my colleagues with homophobic violence – I though I might move on from Musk’s Twitter bastard spawn.

So I moved on to Bluesky for the most part, which is nice but seems less effective for reach so far. Before I did move on I was treated to a charmingly on-brand post from the northern MAGAt mean girl President of John Rustad’s BC Conservative Party suggesting violent racist and homophobic threats from a self-described white nationalist was part of the normal scrutiny that comes with public service

I accidentally opened a portal to a right wing MAGA hellscape when I posted my disdain for X and bluesky preference highlighting recent homophobic racist posts to me and a colleague. The President of the BC Conservative Party tried to normalize violent threats from a white nationalist as "scrutiny"

So, in any event – I think for 2025 I am going to make an effort to tweet less and blog more
